Under the theme "we ensure your safety in the fastest way," Ahmed Al Ameri was crowned, Friday, the UAE’s Red Bull Car Park Drift champion for the second year in a row.
The race was held under the auspices of the Abu Dhabi Police, represented by the Security Media Department at the Secretariat of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Directorate of Traffic and patrol and Emergency and Public Safety Department at the Directorate General of Central Operations, with the participation of 14 racers.
Ahmed Al Ameri will be among the qualifying racers in the Middle East and Africa, who will compete in Beirut, to display their skills in the art of drifting, to win the regional title.
The “Red Bull Car Park Drift” regional qualifications, started in Kuwait on February 10th, , toured visit most of the Middle East and Africa countries , before the finals to be hosted by Beirut, as usual, on July the 6th.
Lebanese champion, Abdo Feghali has presented an exciting show that captured the admiration of the audience. The first stage of the race, started with 14 participants, ended with four racers being disqualified. The second stage has witnessed tough competition, concluding with five racers qualifying to the third and final stage, namely Jihad Hassan, Ahmed Al Rumaithi, Ahmed Omar, Ahmed Dahham and Ahmed Al Ameri.
The top five contestants performed dazzling shows with which the audience has interacted very well. Jordanian Ahmed Dahham and Emarati Ahmed Al Ameri have competed together but Al Ameri has barely managed to excel and get the title.
For his part, Captain Ahmed Mohammed Hadi said the race was held for the second time in the UAE, pointing out that Abu Dhabi Police sponsoring to the event emphasizes traffic safety strategy, to further achieving the lofty goal "we ensure your safety in the fastest way.”
Bin Hadi said Abu Dhabi Police is keen to participate in various events, and is always trying to reach young people through modern and innovative awareness methods, urging car race lovers to practice racing in the circuit and designated places, so as not to endanger their lives and those of others.
Abdo Feghali has praised the good gesture of Abu Dhabi Police which reflects its commitment to communicate with various groups in society, particularly young lovers of car races. He called on amateurs and practitioners of this type of racing to meet in track and not on public roads, for their own safety and the safety of road users.
The jury panel consisted of Lebanese rally champion Abdo Feghali, Captain Mohammed Ahmed bin Hadi of the General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police, and Eissa Mohammed Ali, racing official at Emirates Motor Sports Federation (EMSF).
The evaluation will mainly assess the drift shows presented by the drivers in their modified cars, through the use of hand brakes and exertion of outstanding skills to take on turns in the most dazzling and accurate ways. In addition, judges will consider the engines’ sounds and car appearance and the smoke produced by the friction of the tyres, as well as the crowd reaction.
Despite the changing weather conditions, however, families and children have attended the race and enjoyed the exciting performances, with tens having viewed the car Al Comoro car of the Abu Dhabi Police, which was being showcased as part of the event.
