Recognizing its efforts and activities in benefitting from education and awareness to achieve a sustainable traffic safety in Abu Dhabi society, Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarter, represented by Traffic and Patrol Directorate, came in first place in Khalifa Award for Education 2012 in the category of innovative educational projects on society service and education, while the Centers of the Ministry of Interior for the Rehabilitation and Employment of People with disabilities in Al Ain won the Centers and Institutions Prize.
In a grand ceremony held today (Wednesday) at the Emirates Palace Hotel, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Award Board of Trustees, presented the award to Brigadier Eng. Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Director of Traffic and Patrol Directorate for coming in first place in Khalifa Award for Education 2012 in the category of Innovative Educational Projects in Society Service and Education. His Highness also presented an award to Nasser Aziz Al Sharifi, Director of Al Ain Centers of the Ministry of Interior for the Rehabilitation and Employment of People with disabilities, in the Institutions and Centers category.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Award’s Board of Trustees namely; His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; and H.E. Humaid Al Qatami, Minister of Education. H.E. Dr. Nayef Al Hijra, Minister of Education Minister of Higher Education in Kuwait; and Dr. Ali Al Qarni, Director General of Arab Education Office in GCC States also attended the ceremony.
Major General Mohammed Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Human Resources, Head of the Quality and Excellence Team in Abu Dhabi General Headquarters, commended the award for its role in enriching the competition and constructive work for the common good of this community.
He noted that: “Receiving the award by Abu Dhabi Police, is a result of implementing the directives of our Higher Leadership and reflecting the vision of our Police Command. This vision stresses the implementation and activation of innovative ideas, which will enhance the strategic and development efforts to better elevate the level of police work.”
Commenting on the award, Brigadier Eng. Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi said: “The Directorate’s success in the field of innovative educational projects is an achievement which comes in line with the vision of our police commandment that aims to improve traffic awareness programs. Such programs will ensure an active social role played by the Directorate to increase the level of traffic education among people in the community. These programs will contribute in providing the suitable awareness environment to improve levels of traffic safety, and limit human and economic losses as well as social problems caused by traffic accidents and their impacts in terms of deaths and severe injuries.”
He added: “Winning this award is another addition to the Directorate’s achievements through the implementation of programs, plans and traffic initiatives which aim to elevate the behavior of road users and apply traffic safety rules and regulations. The directorate also aims to connect with all components of the society through direct or indirect communication to raise the level of traffic awareness, ensure sustainable traffic safety and achieve the zero casualties’ vision by 2030.”
