Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate in collaboration with SAAED for Traffic Systems are planning to set a Guinness World Record for the largest traffic safety awareness lecture in the world.
The lecture will be attended by around 3,000 people from all society segments and will be held at the Abu Dhabi national theatre on Oct.10.
Winners of the Grand International Artistic Traffic Competition will be honored during the lecture.
Brigadier Engineer Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, director of the directorate, said representatives from the Guinness World Book will attend the event to document whether the lecture will be the largest of its kind.
He noted that the organizing committee for the event has designed a logo featuring the UAE flag and location in the globe as well as the traffic safety sign which is a triangular with a pedestrian crossing inside.
The event focuses on raising traffic awareness and preventing accidents as well as the resulting deaths and injuries, he added.
Experts in the field of traffic safety in addition to artists and athletes will participate in raising awareness among the public.
Al Harithi called upon all segments of the community to increase efforts, noting that traffic safety is everyone’s duty and responsibility.
He announced that the global event will be accompanied by awareness programs and contests that will be broadcast on Radio FM, Holy Quran Radio and Stars Radio.
Cash prizes will be given to winners.
More than 300 winning paintings at the Grand International Artistic Traffic Competition will be showcased at a traffic awareness exhibition that will be held in conjunction with the event.
Besides awareness brochures that will be distributed to the members of the public, a GTR patrol and the newly- launched Tathqeef patrol will also be exhibited to feature the smart technologies used by traffic patrol vehicles, stated Al Harithi.
