The Abu Dhabi Police GHQ concluded today “Friday” the ‘Your Safety’ initiative, conducted in collaboration with the Security Media Department at the Office of H.H. the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. The initiative coincided with this years’ Hajj pilgrimage season, and continued to the end of Eid Al Adhaa, and aims to promote awareness regarding police services and informing the public about preventive and safety requisites.
Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, General Director of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, affirmed ceaseless keenness of the Abu Dhabi Police on strengthening partnerships and cooperation with various government and private foundations and agencies in order to improve services presented to the public, in line with directives of the higher command which has furnished necessary support and care for citizens, residents and visitors.
He praised the cooperation of various institutions with concerned police units to accomplish the targets of the initiative; which communicated via a host of diverse and intensified programs and activities to safeguard pilgrims’ wellbeing and enhance awareness regarding public preventive and safety requisites at large. Al Awadhi added that awareness programs and activities continue throughout the year such that to shore up safety and awareness amongst all segments of the public, based on the slogan ‘keeping pace with events by advanced means and contemporary messages.’
Al Awadhi acclaimed concerted efforts from all concerned police units and departments thereby reflecting a spirit of teamwork that assisted in raising performance levels, accentuating the humanitarian and service role of police in an ideal image before the public, and cooperation between Hajj campaign organizers and police agencies, all of which contributed to safely concluding their trips to and from the Holy Lands.
He expressed gratitude and appreciation to police personnel for their unrelenting efforts at all police departments; including traffic and border police, who worked hand-in-hand to serve the pilgrims and facilitate procedures for travelers by land, and informing them on guidelines and regulations. In addition, Al Awadhi thanked the printed, televised and radio broadcast media and smart communication gadgets and UAE-based internet websites for their interaction with the initiative and positively conveying its message.
This year’s initiative drew heightened response from pilgrims to the objectives and awareness efforts presented by the police with the aim of informing them of necessary requisites, which in turn partook in augmenting awareness and enabling pilgrims to conduct their blessed trips easily and comfortably.
The initiative called upon pilgrims traveling by land to get in touch with the Western Region operations room in case of emergencies during their outgoing or incoming trips for guidance and advice, in conjunction with various police departments, which responded swiftly to their calls and request and rushed to provide their needs and guarantee their comfort.
The initiative also focused on issuing general guidelines for the public; directed at motorists and park visitors (families, youth and children included), to take precaution against weather fluctuations and the possibility of rainfall. The initiative called for taking preventive measures, adhering to necessary safety requisites, monitoring weather changes, staying clear of areas where rainfall collects, and avoiding valleys routes, natural waterways and areas submerged with water.
