The Abu Dhabi Police GHQ warned against the risks of motorcycle stunts carried out by teenagers, who disregard traffic laws and regulations, and their resulting human and material losses.
Lieutenant colonel Saeed Al Khaja, Vice Head of Technical Affairs and Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of His Highness Deputy prime Minister and Minister of Interior’s Office, indicated that dangerous motorcycle stunts on public roads, reflect a neglect on the part of some parents who fail to prevent their children from these negative and dangerous practices, which may cause tragic accidents, leading to deaths, injuries or permanent disabilities.
He stressed that Abu Dhabi Police encourages refined hobbies among youth, on specified tracks designated for such practices, away from public roads; noting that traffic patrols have often had to deal with such stunts in residential areas during the late hours of the night. He pointed out that there are laws and regulations for driving on internal, external and residential neighborhoods’ roads, to ensure public safety for motorcycle drivers and other road users.
As part of the Abu Dhabi Police initiative to raise awareness on the dangers of reckless motorcycle driving, he noted that Abu Dhabi Police has been keen to organize refined awareness programs and activities. Such programs meet the wishes of young people and achieve the traffic safety objectives. He added that ADP has used the exciting Falcon bike in its various traffic awareness campaigns targeting the youth. The motorcycle, which was unveiled in May 2009, was specifically designed for Abu Dhabi Police, with unique specifications unmatched in the region, to meet the wishes of young people and keep pace with their hobbies. This new innovation played a significant role to promote the youth’s confidence in the police institution, as well as remind individuals on the importance of road safety.
He pointed out that the Falcon bike shows have been closely followed by members of the audience, who were keen to learn about the latest techniques of the Falcon bike to achieve public safety. These shows also acquainted individuals with the importance of safe motorcycle driving, and their regular maintenance.
Al Khaja indicated that ADP, through this initiative implemented by Security Media Department, aimed to promote friendship and closer relations with the various social groups, by sharing their interests and hobbies. This would achieve partnership and constructive cooperation; and harness efforts and young energies, so as to enhance community development, as well as the prosperity and stability of the nation.
He pointed out that the bright-red and chrome Falcon bike, emblazoned with the Abu Dhabi Police logo is equipped with a strong motor, a siren, flashing lights, gloves, a baton holster and most importantly a first-aid kit. The Falcon is characterized by its distinguished style, combining the unique UAE heritage and modern international styles.
This unusual bike was designed by the famous American, Paul Teutul Sr, who expressed his admiration for the attention given by Abu Dhabi Police to the public and its keenness to communicate with them in various ways. He insisted that, of all the countries he has visited, he was significantly impressed by the beauty of Abu Dhabi and its good people.
Notably, the Abu Dhabi Police, represented by the Security Media Department, endeavors with all its might, to ensure safety for all, in line with its motto, "We ensure your safety in the fastest way". This is achieved thanks to specialized teams, who work in full readiness to provide safety for all.
