Abu Dhabi Police qualifies 70
volunteers to deal with crises and disasters

 

ADP GHQ has qualified 70 volunteers from different Police Departments attended technical affairs course organized by the Office of Victims Affairs "Technical System". They are well prepared to help and offer humanitarian assistance in order to serve their community and country.

The volunteers expressed their pride and happiness with joining this course which promoted their abilities to deal with all cases of crises and disasters and to apply what they had learned on demand.

ADP has announced that the door will remain open to attract any interested persons from MoI and ADP.

Colonel Ismaeel Al Sarkal, Deputy Director general of ADP Central Operations, during the celebrations of the Office of Victims affairs at the Department of Emergency and Public Safety of graduation of volunteers, said "Volunteering includes humanitarian efforts based on interest and self-motive to serve the country and community in line with the Office mission, which is to deliver a humanitarian service to the community through identifying victims of disasters".
 
He has affirmed that ADP spare no effort to serve humans, protect and care for humans dignity, and reassure our community and achieving excellence in social work, in order to face our era challenges. 

Major Abdul Aziz Masoud Al Dhahri, Head of Victims Affairs office said " The technical affairs course organized by the Office continued for five weeks, from 17 September to 21 October 2010, under supervision of the Director of Training Branch".

The trainees received training in how to receive reports, to answer the public enquiries about victims through writing down necessary information from callers, documenting and preparing reports.

They also received training in how to get information about victims from hospitals, victim shelters and Forensic Evidence Department. They were also trained in search and updating of victims, survivors and evacuated people's records. They were trained in matching and integrating records through information received from hospitals and site of the incident, identifying the numbers of missing, survivors and victims during the disaster, in addition to documentation of information on the database of victims and missing people, added Al Dhahri.

At the end of the course some trainees were trained in mail and communication Unit, which receives evidences concerning identification of victims from the Matching Unit, in order to contact victims' relatives in coordination with Families Liaison Officer.

1st Lt. Nasser Abdullah Al Saadi, Director of Training Branch said "This course is the first of its type at ADP GHQ level. The trainees join it at their own will. They are all from ADP and they want to work for the Victims Affairs Office. They are all keen to serve their country.

There will mock drills ands scenarios two times every year to test the office preparedness.

The ceremony was attended by a number of the Directorate General of Central Operations officers.
