Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters participated today, in the exhibition “You Create and We Protect”, organized by the Ministry of Economy. The exhibition, which is held at Abu Dhabi Mall, will last for two days on the occasion of International Day for Intellectual Property.

Abu Dhabi Police music band inaugurated the exhibition with several musical pieces which impressed the audience.

Abu Dhabi Woman Police members gave a presentation on their skills in weapon setup, to the music played by Abu Dhabi Police band. The show, which was characterized with high efficiency, reflected the role of the woman police division in the various police departments in enhancing stability and security in the UAE. The audience from all ages enjoyed the shows, and warmly applauded the participants for a long time. 

 Abu Dhabi Police booth at the exhibition included three scientific innovations, used with great efficiency at the different departments; and created by inventor Osama Ahmed Ismael from Central Operations General Department. The devices were registered at the Intellectual Property Office at the Ministry of Economy.

The Ministry of Economy chose these particular inventions to take part in the exhibition for their significant impact in preserving lives and properties and they are:

The Early Alarm (wired/wireless/ GSM), with about 40 functions, to protect from robbery, and catch the burglar with full communication between the police and property owner. This device acquired the Police Creativity Award of His Highness, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, in technical field in its first session.

The second invention is the wireless Fire alarm system, linked to regular alarm systems in warehouses and buildings. The device sends wireless alarm signals within two seconds even if there’s nobody present at the location. Another innovation is the Safety baby car seat. 

In his speech, Colonel Thani Butti Al Shamsi, Head of the Innovation and Creation Team in Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters said: “Upon the directives of our police commandment, the Abu Dhabi Police encouraged and supported innovation and creation though different activities since 2004. This culminated in establishing an innovation and creation department, in accordance with an accurate scientific system.”

Al Shamsi also added: “the Abu Dhabi Police innovative results in the past period, has allowed it to enter contests and win a number of awards locally and internationally. The Abu Dhabi Police acquired the Award for Excellence in Government Performance in its third session for the year 2010-2011, to establish Abu Dhabi Police’s attention for innovation and creativity and making it part of its institutional agenda.”

He continued: “The Abu Dhabi Police Commandment has always supported creative and out of the box thinking; we drew inspiration from these directives to encourage our staff to innovate and create. We got acquainted with the concept in 2002, and we always review the best practices in the field of innovation and creativity”.

He pointed out that a team from Abu Dhabi Police visited Singapore, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States of America, to view innovations and creations that serve police work. The innovations were documented in a report, to present it to the police commandments and staff in the purpose of transferring these creative practices.

Al Shamsi mentioned that 318 ideas were presented in the years 2008-2009 to the police creation award. More than 38 ideas were chosen and honored following testing and implementation. This measure helped to improve services provided to clients
