Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Police Operations attended the open day organized by the Emergency and public Safety Department of Abu Dhabi Police at the Abu Dhabi Corniche.
The event, themed “ today is ours” , was attended by Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Nuaimi, director of Emergency and Public Safety Department, Lt Colonel Mohammed Ibrahim Al Ameri, Deputy director of the Department, a number of senior police officers and huge crowd of Emirati nationals and residents of different ages.
While addressing the participants, Al Raisi conveyed to them the regards of Lt. General H.H Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minster and Minster of Interior, who first suggested creation of the Ambulance and Rescue in Abu Dhabi Police.
He lauded the efforts of the personnel of Emergency and Public Safety Department. “We made a good start and are striving to attain the highest global levels”, he said, noting that quick response by the emergency personnel is being well received by member of the public”.
“Our goal is to shed light on the humanitarian role undertaken by the ambulance and emergency teams in serving the society”, he added, noting that work in now on process to achieve the highest levels of public satisfaction.
Colonel Al Nuaimi said the aim of the open day is to ensure cooperation, test the preparedness of the rescue teams and equipment and to introduce the society to the roles assumed by the Department.
He referred to the great achievements made by the Emirates Search and Rescue Team in this field. The team is among other 16 recognized teams in the world; it is the first team in the Middle East and North Africa MENA to help those hit by natural disasters locally and globally.
Accompanied by the director of Emergency and Public Safety and officers of the Department, Major General Al Raisi toured the open day activities and viewed the participating vehicles including 30 ambulance vehicles, 4 rescue patrols, 5 first responders, 5 motorcycle patrols, 9 electric motorcycle, 7 golf scooters, field bus and 5 bicycles.
He viewed the kids’ fun program and the photo show that focuses on the activities of the department. He attended the practical public training on first aid and rescue.
He also viewed the automatic electric shock machine, introduced for the first time by the department, and is used for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
The open day included awareness programs on first aid, fire fighting, in addition contests.
Abu Dhabi Police Brass Band also preformed national and folkloric pieces of music that captured the public admiration.
Concluding his tour, Major General Al Riasi received memento from Colonel Al Nuaimi.
