According to the directives of Lt. General H.H Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minster and Minster of Interior, the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, represented by the Capital Police, announced beginning of forming a society for Emirati women police to which all female police members at the ministry of the interior may become members.

The society, the first of its kind in the Middle East, aims to highlight and enhance the role of women in various fields and police sections, noted director of police operation at Abu Dhabi Police, Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali.
 
The society will seek to promote the role of its members through providing external and internal training opportunities and taking part in the conferences and symposia held by the society, to gain more professional and personal skills, pointed out Al Awadhi.
 
Introductory lectures about the society will be offered at various police headquarters affiliated with the ministry of interior as from next week, explained director of Capital Police Directorate, Brigadier Maktoum Al Shareefi. Female police members will be able to learn about the society’s strategic message, objectives, and organizational structure, he further explained.

Head of the society, Lieutenant Amina Khamis Al Bloushi, said the society, in cooperation with the concerned authorities, will play an essential role in supporting female police sector in the UAE. It will act as regional reference for all societies and organizations concerned with women police affairs, she added.

A total of seven awards have been created and will be dedicated to female police personnel. They include outstanding police mother award, outstanding police family, leader’s award, community services award, patriotic work award, distinguished performance award and scientific excellence award. The society will prepare particular criteria for each award.

The society is currently preparing several activities and events including entertainment programs for policewomen during religious and national occasions. One day every year will be dedicated to celebrate the female police achievements across the country in addition to publishing a special magazine about the society.
