Abu Dhabi Police celebrates World Poetry Day
DP GHQ celebrated the World Poetry Day on Sunday evening organized by the Department of Security Media. The theme was "Love of the Country". A number of distinguished poets participated in the evening at the Forensic Evidence Department Conference Room.
The event was attended by Major General Mohammad bin al Awadhi al Minhali, Director general of Human resources, a number of Directors of Departments, ADP poets and a number of Senior Officials headed by Mr. Sultan Al Amyami Director of Poetry Academy and member of Million Poet Judges Committee.
Major General Al Awadhi said "ADP c marking of the event reflects the importance of poetry in polishing our lives and behaviors in order to respect law systems and civilization values".
Mr. Abdullah Shaheen, Event Organizer and Director of Press Branch at the Secretariat General of the Office of HH the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior said " The attention that ADP pays to poetry and poets and marking the World Poetry Day, reflects ADP new slogan (ADP keeps pace with event), not at local level but at global level as well".
"We celebrate high values of beauty in ourselves. By poetry humans have made their civilization. Poets have spoken about their love to their tribes and countries. They praised their leaders and blamed their enemies in poetry. They made beautiful poetry when they speak about their lovers", added Mr. Shaheen.
The famous poet Mr. Habeeb Al Ssaygh, the Doyen Emirates Press and Chairman of Writers and Authors Association, appreciated ADP celebration with World Poetry Day. He said "It is a civilized gesture from ADP". Then he delivered a poem filled with patriotic love and good deeds of the late HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May soul rest in peace) and his great role in the country stability.
1st Lt. Hamdan bin Surookh Al Darie, Director of radio Branch at the Department of Technical Affairs and Security Media and ADP well known poet opened the programme of colloquial poetry (Nabatti).
Then he was followed by a number of poets from ADP including Nasser bin yarwan Al Niyadi, Mohammad Bakheet Al Minhali, Khalid Al Dhanhani, Abdullah Al Jabri, and Ghabsha al Mansouri, who delivered poems in about patriotic love. They numerated the achievements of UAE Leadership.
Then a Saudi poet Naïf Saqr, who at first appreciated the distinguished standard of ADP poets, delivered a poem about the achievements of General Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. At the end of the evening the Poet Sultan Al Amyami evaluated the poems delivered during the evening
At the end of the event Major General Al Minhali honored the participating poets, the evening organizers and the famous Million Poet Programme presenters.
