Khalifa Police Station of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters and the National Center for Meteorology and Seismology discussed means of cooperation in order to promote providing services to the public.

The two sides discussed in the first introductory meeting held recently in Abu Dhabi the flow of work and other issues that promote cooperation between the two sides.

Major Abdullah Al Harithi, Community Police Affairs Section Chief in the Peripheral Areas Police Directorate, headed a delegation on a visit to the National Center for Meteorology and Seismology. He was accompanied by Captain Jumaa Al Badi Community Police Branch Manager at the Khalifa Police Station of the Peripheral Areas Police Directorate. They were received at the Center by Omar Al Yazidi, Research, Development and Training Department Director; and Muhammad Al Harmoudi, Technical Services Department Director of the Center.

Al Yazidi welcomed the delegation who visited the Center’s building in Area (A) of Khalifa City in Abu Dhabi. Al Harithi commended the efforts made by the Center’s officials for hosting the delegation; he praised their role in educating the public and ensuring environmental safety. He stressed the importance of promoting the relations with local community corporates to promote the professional performance and serve the police institute.

The attendees discussed a number of public services that are provided by the Khalifa Police Station and the National Center for Meteorology and Seismology to the members of the community.  

Captain Al Badi shed light during the first introductory meeting on a number of initiatives and social programs that are implemented by the Community Police, in addition to the mechanisms of communicating with the public. The aim of this is to promote the foundation of strategic partnership between the police and the community through providing all means of serving the community activities in order to benefit the members of the society.

Al Yazidi gave a presentation on the Center and its specializations to the visiting delegation that toured a number of departments in the Center. The delegation reviewed the specializations and tasks, and toured the main prediction center. The delegation listened to an explanation given by Majed Nasser, Navy Prediction Section Chief who informed the visiting delegation of how the day-to-day work is implemented.

The delegation was also briefed on the center for seismic intensity analysis, and listened to explanations presented by Engineer Khalifa Al Abri who is a specialist in the analysis of seismic information. Al Abri talked about the UAE location in terms of the structural platelets of the crust regionally and globally, and its distance from the nearest seismic influence point. He also shed light on how predictions are made and how to act when earthquakes happen, in addition to talking about the technologies used to limit the damages caused by earthquakes and ways and methods to ensure public safety.

The delegation watched a documentary on seeding clouds. The documentary is produced by the National Center for Meteorology and Seismology, and is one of the very first documentaries produced in the region and the Middle East on this issue.

Concluding, Omar Al Yazidi, Research, Development and Training Department Director in the Center, gifted Major Abdullah Al Harithi, Community Police Affairs Section Chief in the Peripheral Areas Police Directorate a commemorative shield marking the launch of promoting mutual cooperation between these two partners.
