The Abu Dhabi Police issued 331 Criminal Certificates and 1,565 License and Arms Purchase Approvals during the lately concluded Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition.
The security committee formed from a number of entities carried out all inspection and security procedures for the exhibition. It also received the arms purchase applications and issued Criminal Status Certificates.
Colonel Homaid Al Afret, Head of Security Committee commented: “The Abu Dhabi Police teams performed their tasks prior to the opening of the exhibition and during the event. These teams were formed to execute different tasks with the full coordination and cooperation of the exhibition’s organizing committee. The inspection teams took the responsibility of the entry and exit by installing e-gates and carried out manual personal inspection. It also had a dedicated female staff that carried out the inspections for the exhibition’s female visitors.”
Other qualified teams provided services to the UAE and GCC nationals through two desks. In addition to the headquarters of the security committee where its staff took the responsibility of managing the process of issuing licenses, supervising teams and following up with any obstacles and addressing them.
Teams worked for more than 12 hours daily to provide the best levels of security and services. Captain Khalifa Al Flaiti, member of the Security Committee noted that the police staff was ready to answer any query at all times despite the presence of a dedicated staff provided by the security committee for this purpose.
He said that the police staff was impressive and reflected the level of development that the Abu Dhabi Police has reached, adding that the staff continuously received applications; verified information, license and purchase applications; registered the information in special programs linked to certain entities; issues approvals and handed them over to the applicants. He said that the procedures were performed in a time span of 20 minutes for each transaction.
National staff at the certificates issuance desk took the responsibility of issuing the Criminal Status Certificates (Good Conduct Certificates) and received UAE nationals who were willing to obtain certificates for purchasing and licensing arms.
First Lt. Expert Ismail Abdullah Al Karbi, Head of Forensics and Criminal Information Branch said that the police had been keen to publish and broadcast advertisements to the public and GCC nationals in media prior to the opening of the exhibition about the requirements to purchase arms at the exhibition.
The Fingerprints Division received several applications for Criminal Status Certificates prior to the opening of the exhibition; in addition many applications were submitted through the dedicated link on the police website.
Al Karbi said that the requirements to issue certificates were limited to offering ID card, and filling the proper application, then verifying the fingerprint was performed through the criminal system and networks with the Emirates Identity Authority. The time required for performing the entire process was 15 minutes.
On a parallel track, the Security Check Department (K-9) performed live demonstrations with its sniffer dogs in the covered hall. These shows witnessed wide attendance from the visitors who were keen to see obedience and other performances of the sniffer dogs. In addition to showcasing many dog breeds for the public.
