The Abu Dhabi Police Music band has concluded its Golden Jubilee celebrations, which included an ongoing celebratory process that marked its establishment in July of 1963. Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, praised the cooperation of different entities, media outlets (print, TV and radio), and social media websites that helped bring attention to the celebration of this event through modern and meaningful communication.

He said: “The celebrations included more than 300 local and international performances, which reflected the efforts of the Abu Dhabi Police to support creativity and document key events across its journey over more than 50 years. These celebrations also consolidate the principles of the Abu Dhabi Police to empower the spirit of pride and loyalty among all police members.”

“The Abu Dhabi Police is keen to introduce the younger generations to its journey and its important historical moments, since giving is immortal and is in the homeland’s memory. This is reaffirmed by Lieutenant General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, who is always keen to honor the people who are loyal and excellent in serving the police and the country, whether they are young or some of the oldest employees,” he added.

For his part, Colonel Waleed Salem Al Shamesi, Head of the Police Schools Department at Abu Dhabi Police, praised the efforts made to develop the Police Music Band, saying the support offered by the police leadership to the band was an important asset.

He said: “The developments that took place along its journey, as the band improved its members and instruments, are reflected in its performances. They have received positive feedback from the public, in the UAE, regionally, and internationally. The band takes part in local and international festivals, and participates abroad to perform with international bands.”

Colonel Al Shamesi praised the public’s interaction with the valuable messages delivered by the Police Music Band during the Golden Jubilee Celebrations and the UAE’s 42nd National Day Celebrations. He said: “The success of the Abu Dhabi Police Music band has attracted different segments of society, as members of the public, including those of all ages and backgrounds, interacted with the performances that combined patriotism, heritage and creativity.”

He added: “Music is an essential element in the life and culture of nations. It is also a global language common between all people across the globe. Music helps people from all nationalities and cultures to interact, as it does not require any translation. Therefore, a French leader once said: If you want to know a civilization, listen to its music.”

For his part, First Lieutenant Ibrahim Ma’touq Al Hosani, Deputy Chief of Police Music Section, said: “The Abu Dhabi Police Music band represents the beating heart of the police. Its sensations ignite enthusiasm and feelings wherever and whenever it goes. The band’s musicians breathe an air mixed with national and cultural music pieces that reflect the love of the homeland and the loyalty to this country’s land and skies.”

He added: “The Police Music Band was founded in 1963. It developed through its journey and adopted any improvements in instruments and skills. The band’s musicians were offered to undergo advanced courses both locally and internationally. The band took part in different international events to gain more skills and exchange knowledge.
