ADP uses its capabilities to curb drugs
The UAE is keen to be clear of drugs poisons in spite of aggressive attempts by drugs smugglers and peddlers in the Gulf Region, as a transit destination for drugs. ADP pays great attention to fighting this blight and works on enhancing the concept of partnership with civil society institutions and organizations to protect the national achievements and human resources against the dangers of drugs.
WHO reports confirm that drugs and other mind-altering substances are the main cause of much physical, psychological and mental harm. This necessitates intervention to set up comprehensive strategies to disseminate awareness of drugs complications and dangers, through group work and at all levels.
ADP GHQ has proved that all its departments work in harmony and uses all capabilities to fight drugs blight and prevent their risks. ADP GHQ urges all community categories to support its efforts to protect the community from drugs and mind-altering substances.
Awareness is a joint responsibility
Brigadier Najm Abdullah Al Hosani, Director of Social Support Centers Department at ADP said "Facing the spread of drugs among the youth and adolescents is not the responsibility of police alone, but it is the responsibility of the community, families, relevant government institutions and Medias. There should be a supervisory body to coordinate the efforts of all these parties and to activate the role of each one of them, in order to curb the problem".
"There should preventive actions to stop drugs abuse, as the issue is based on supply and demand. Any increase in demand will be met with an increase in abuse. Then the health, psychological and social risks should be explained and appropriate solutions should be proposed. Medias have a vital role to play due to their magical effect on all community categories, through a well considered media plan round throughout the year. It should be implemented by specialized persons. Most awareness campaign regarding drugs among the youth and juveniles must continue the whole year, especially during summer vacation, where it is the leisure time", added Al Hosani.
Abu Dhabi Police…Awareness and educational role
Many efforts are being made by different departments of ADP GHQ to confront and curb this phenomenon which is against the UAE community ethics. The Anti-narcotics Section at the CID is responsible for fighting drugs and assisting addicts.
Lt. Colonel Sultan Al Darmaki, Head of Anti-narcotics Section said "The efforts made by the government to curb the spread of drugs have succeeded. Drugs are a plague which destroys the productive force of the country and they waste youth's energy which the country needs for its development. ADP GHQ, represented by the Anti-narcotics Section with its highly qualified and trained personnel, works very hard to curb the spread of drugs among community categories".
