ADP nabs a gang of teenagers involved in burglary

 

Abu Dhabi Police has arrested a gang of three Emirati teenagers; their ages ranging between 14 and 17, involved in burglary. They target houses, stores and taxi drivers at different places in Abu Dhabi Emirate.

Colonel Maktoum Ali Al Shareefi, Director of the Capital Police Directorate at ADP GHQ said about the details of the case "Police Stations have received 21 complaints about burglaries and robberies and from taxi drivers, mosques and donation boxes. A CID Team has been formed to follow up the case and nab the offenders. All of them have confessed their crimes".

The complaints about juvenile delinquency have increased in recent times. They are very complicated crimes as they have direct effect on community stability and its families' relations. All community members should join hands to confront the problem.

Our care for teenagers goes side by side with ADP awareness plans and initiatives. The Directorate works hard to achieve communication with the public through its community Units, which include regular visits to schools. But these efforts will be of no use without cooperation of all, he added.

Al Shareefi has urged parents to advise their children, follow up their school studies, know their friends and monitoring their return to home at nights. Most of crimes are committed at late night. Some juveniles have admitted that the sneak secretly from their homes.

Parents should also ask their children about any moneys they carry and their source, as this may indicate that their children on the wrong track. Family disruption is the main reason for juvenile delinquency. 

Educational institutions cooperation with families contributes to formation of students concepts in order to protect children from delinquency factors. Preventive role completes educational role.

Colonel Al Shareefi urges house owners to take care of their personal belongings and moneys and keep them in safe places. Large sums of money and jewelries should be kept in banks. Most of burglaries are due to negligence and not keeping doors and windows properly locked, especially during vacations.
