Abu Dhabi Police GHQ is launching on Thursday, an initiative for educating pilgrims about safety and protection instructions, and enlightening them about the services offered by Abu Dhabi Police.

Implemented by Media Security Department at the Secretariat- General of the Office of Deputy Prime Minster and Ministry of Interior, the initiative, “salamtak”, meaning your safety, also aims at raising traffic safety to ensure an accident-free Hajj season.

Major general Mohammed al Awadhi Al Menhali, director general of police operations, Abu Dhabi police, said that the initiative follows a number of initiatives and awareness campaigns which contributed to enhancing the public awareness of safety instructions whether during hajj season or other occasions throughout the year.

Al Awadhi underlined the importance of the initiative in educating pilgrims so that they are able to make their blessed trips in an easy manner, noting that Abu Dhabi Police has intensified its efforts in various locations,   through coordination and cooperation whether among its concerned departments or through partnerships with other related -government agencies.

 He appealed to pilgrims, especially those traveling by land, to apply safety instructions during their journey and make available all the necessary needs in coordination with the police and other related bodies.

He also called on the pilgrims of the UAE to fully cooperate and abide by the instructions issued by the concerned agencies in the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia upon their arrival to the Saudi soil. They should provide accurate information about them and about those accompanying them so that services are delivered to them as quick as possible.

While they are in the tents, pilgrims must follow a number of precautions, such as being aware of the emergency exits and the locations of manual fire extinguishers, noted acting director of public relations at the Ministry of interior, Brigadier Mohammed Saleh Baddah Al Awadhi.

He urged pilgrims not to keep flammable liquids or smoke inside the tents, and advised them to throw trash at the designated areas only.
He added that tents are made of flammable materials, therefore it is preferred that pilgrims choose anti-fire tents and make sure that tents are away from flammable materials especially when they run portable generators.

In the event of fire, evacuation becomes mandatory, however pilgrims should not be confused as this would impede evacuation process, he said.
Passports offices of Al Ghwaifat borders exit check point will have three tents equipped with medical and therapeutic services and food for the convenience of pilgrims traveling from the UAE to perform Hajj.

The three tents will also be equipped with water bottles, fruit juices and dates and all efforts will be made to expedite the traveling procedures.
All passports sections at the country’s land and air exit check points have completed arrangements to receive the pilgrims, and task forces have been set up countrywide to make the travel of pilgrims comfortable.
