ADP launches its media patrols to enhance media work

 

Major General Mohammad bin Al Awadhi Al Minhali, Director General of ADP Policing Operations, has revealed the launch of a new and unprecedented media power. It is represented in operation of media patrols, which cover Abu Dhabi Island round the clock. The patrol cars are provided with the latest technological equipment and well qualified manpower. The aim of the step is to provide Medias with the most accurate photos and details of important events on the ground, and documenting them to ensure the staff safety.

Al Awadhi has affirmed that this initiative comes within the directives of the Higher Police Leadership which is keen on the principle of public safety and transparency. These patrols with their trained technical crew are well prepared to deal with incidents, crises and places which endanger the lives of civilians, and even military [personnel working in media fields. They can move in a safe way and send the photographed event to different media means on the spot, if these media means can not reach the site of the event for one reason or another. They can give assistance and support to media men who are present at the site.

1st Lt. Mohammad Humaid Al Darie, Head of Field Archive Section at the Department of Security Media and Director of the Project, said "Security Media patrols includes mobile field patrols to support security media process through monitoring, and depicting events, crises, fires and different incidents within all Abu Dhabi Island.

"This project comes within the implementation of ADP strategy and its keenness to make use of modern technologies in developing police cadres' abilities, boosting the safety and security with different modern methods and creative ways. The aim is to promote policing system and its new concepts, which are not restricted to keeping pace with events, but being present at their centers. The mobile patrol cars are specially designed for the Security Media Department with unique specifications without a parallel in the region", added Al Darie.

He has revealed that the total number of vehicles is four. They travel all over Abu Dhabi Island round the clock. They receive reports from ADP GHQ Central Operations Room.

"A well qualified national crew runs these vehicles through shifts system. Their roles are distributed in a well considered technical form to carry out photography and video taping tasks, and transmitting events on the ground on the spot", added Al Darie.

"media patrols are characterized by quick response, continuous hard work, in addition to their attractive shape in dotted white and red colors, to indicate the aim of the patrols of deployment in accordance with population distribution and community interest", added Al Darie.
