ADP invites contractors for"Green Buildings" system
ADP has invited all partners and customers to implement green buildings system for police projects to reduce their costs, in addition to preserving environment by use of relevant means. They should take into account a number of issues during construction and introduce applications that support sustainability process and save energy.
The Strategic partners Form organized by ADP Projects Committee on Monday recommended payment of due installments to contractors electronically and preparation of security and safety guide by the Committee. The form should be organized annually.
The Committee is obliged to provide logistical support to all contractors and consultants regarding obtaining permits without infringement of government laws and regulations in force.
ADP confirmed the quality of endorsed building standards in implementation of its projects and their compliance with world specifications. All contractors registered with ADP are qualified against transparency in announcement of projects that allows competition between contractors in accordance with endorsed standards.
Lt. Colonel (Engineer) Saif Hamdan Al Kaabi, Executive manger of ADO Projects Committee said "ADP projects have a security nature. All consultants registered with it are well qualified. There is a system to announce projects with transparency allowing all contractors to compete for them. High standards of building are applied on different ADP projects".
"ADP is not authorized to give the final approval of drawings. WE are as a government department we work under Abu Dhabi Government umbrella in collaboration and coordination with other departments the thing that supports implementation of projects according to their plans and time tables", added Al Kaabi.
1st Lt. Hamad Al Shamsi, Head of Design Section stated consultants' qualification standards as: experience, and implementation of similar projects by the contractor.
"The forum gives contractors and consultants the opportunity to present their remarks and comments in respect of ADP projects and to avoid any problems that may face", said Lt. Colonel Ahmed Al Badi, Deputy Director of Financial Affairs Department at ADP.
ADP Department of Engineering Projects urged all partners and customers to implement the principle of green buildings in all police projects to reduce cost, by observing the site, building orientation, reducing waste and areas, local environment, respecting local traditions, using local building materials to reduce transport operations and using materials which their manufacture requires less energy.
The concept of "Green Buildings" requires construction of buildings with long time span, use of latest technologies to support the principle of sustainability in design and execution, use of materials that can easily be recycled and rationalization of consumption in general.
The applications that support sustainability include, use of environment-friendly materials, provision of natural lighting and ventilation, use of thermal insulation, desert plants as the need small quantities of water, use of reflective and light-weight ceilings to reduce heat, cooling buildings at night to reduce energy consumption during day time, use of sewage treatment system in washing buildings and irrigation.
