ADP GHQ discussed the reactions of individuals during tragic disasters, from panic, horror to after-shock and confusion. The lecture was organized the Department of Training.
Lt. General Saif Abdullah al Shaafar, MoI Undersecretary, Major General (S) Obeid Salim Al Hiri Al Kitbi, Deputy C-in-C of ADP, Directors General, Heads of Sections and a number of specialized officers were present during the lecture.
The lecture, which was held at the Forensic Evidence Department, was delivered by Dr. Aamir Hussain, member of national American center for Crises. He talked about the leadership role in reducing the effect of the shock and psychological disturbances.
He divided the disasters into natural, storms, floods and earthquakes, and man-made disasters, wars etc. There were different reactions by populations after disasters. Disasters' relief teams such as civil defense, police, armed forces, medical and psychological staff, nursing cadres, Red Crescent people, relief organizations, volunteers, media men etc would work under pressure for long hours.
Medications were not always the best solution. Information to handle such situations, rest and reassurance were the best treatment in such cases.
