ADP delegation visits Emirates University
A delegation from Abu Dhabi Police has discussed means of scientific exchange and making use of modern technologies in crime detection during a visit to the faculties of Science and Medicine at the Emirates University. The delegation is headed by Colonel Abdul Rahman Al Hamadi, Director of Forensic Evidence Department.
The delegation met during the visit with the Head of Geology Department at the Faculty of Science Dr. Ahmed Murad in he presence of Dr Waleed Hamza Head of Life Sciences Department and Dr. Hayder Aziz Bakr, Professor of Applied Geophysics. They reviewed a number of issues regarding Geoforensics and the possibility of setting up a database for soil in the UAE, in cooperation between both sides, and how to benefit from researches conducted by students on sands from different parts of the country.
The proposal of sending some ADP personnel to study scientific forensic evidence-related specialties at the Geology Department was considered during the visit.
Then the delegation paid a visit to the Faculty of Medicine. The delegation was received by Dr. Mohammad Yusuf Bani Yass. Dr. Bani Yass lauded ADP scientific approach in dealing with security issues. Both sides discussed cooperation and scientific exchange between ADP and the faculty of Medicine in researches conducted by the Faculty and related to Forensic Science, and can be used in forensic laboratories. The delegation reviewed the faculty capabilities especially scientific laboratories.
Colonel Al Hamadi said "This visit comes within ADP approach to cement relations and scientific ties with community segments. Cooperation between ADP and the Emirates University is already there. ADP has held workshops on Geoforensics where lecturers from the Faculty of Science delivered lectures on the subject. The use of scientific techniques will develop crime detection methods".
The delegation comprised Lt. Colonel (Expert) Dr. Nawal Al Katheeri, Director of Forensic Chemistry Branch, Captain (Expert) Zinat Al Hattali, Director of Specimen and Biological Tests Branch, Dr. Ibrahim Expert of Drugs Poisons, Expert Naoma Al Nuaimi and Saleh Ali Al Katheeri.
