ADP and Transport Dept to join parking fee collection

 

Abu Dhabi Police general Headquarters and the Department of Transport have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the collection of parking fines mechanism.

Major general Khaleel Dawood Badran, Director General of Finance and Services signed for ADP GHQ and Mr. Mohammad Harib al Yusuf, Executive manager signed for the Department of Transport.

The MOU was signed to enhance cooperation between ADP and the Transport Department and to develop work mechanisms to the highest levels.

Major General Badran said "This agreement is in response to the directives of HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, which call for more coordination and cooperation with government and public sector institutions".

In accordance with the MOU and the Department desire, ADP would collect the fines registered by the Department of Transport against the vehicles licensed by ADP, through the federal traffic system at ADP and MoI. The fines would be received through ADP service outlets. The amount of the fines then would be transferred to the Department bank account on monthly basis.

Both parties agreed to hold joint meetings to solve any problem that may rise due to implementation of the MOU. Mr. Al Yusuf appreciated the importance of the agreement with ADP and its continuous efforts to delver distinguished services to the public. The Department would forward electronically any registered violations to the federal traffic system of ADP. ADP military vehicles would be exempted from parking fees and civilian-type vehicles of ADP would be given free parking permits.

 

Brief on the Department of Transport

 

The Department of Transport was established in Abu Dhabi by the Law Number (4) for 2006, amended by the Law Number (5) for 2008. The aim of its establishment was to cover all aspects of transport sector in Abu Dhabi Emirate by one party to achieve full coordination in respect of transport policies and their development. It is the sole responsible authority for the supervision of air, land, maritime transport, ports and transport infrastructure. It has the right ti issue necessary decisions to achieve the highest safety and security, to preserve environment and economic growth of all transport sectors in Abu Dhabi Emirate.
