ADP Women Police Anniversary Celebrations Kick off
The celebration of women police 32nd anniversary kicked off under the slogan “Our Past is Our Heritage…and Our Heritage is Our Treasure”, with large number of audience. The first batch of women police was graduated in 1978.
Policewomen presented shows accompanied by musical performances by ADP Music Band amid tremendous applause from the audience. The public, with its different social and age categories expressed their admiration of the show and lauded their achievements which contributed to the maintenance of policing gains.
The activities started with the tune of Allah Ya Dar Zayed (Hooray Zayed’s Home), policewomen military parades, show of arms, police and sports skills, including self-defence and arrest of criminals. Then a stage show under the title “My Journey”, presented by some elements of women police about their progress since the beginning of the Union and stages of joining women police force.
A quizzes programme was presented to the audience and the winners received valuable prizes. The audience interacted with the show.
Lt. Salma Al Kaabi, the first dog trainer in the UAE staged a police dog show at the outer yard of marina mall. She also presented an explanation of police dog tasks and their role in saving human lives and detection of crimes.
Colonel Waleed Salim Al Shamsi, Director of ADP GHQ Police Schools said “The unlimited support to Police Organization by the Leadership and ADP plan to attract women elements, have contributed to the increase in the numbers of women police personnel. All necessary capabilities have been provided to enable women to join different policing areas”.
“We celebrate the 32nd anniversary to mark the graduation fo first batch of policewomen on 16 September 1978 after the setting up of Women Police School in March of the same year. It is one of the most important police training and qualification center in the country. The first batch comprised 24 trainees, who had received training in a number of sciences, police and sports skills”, added Al Shamsi.
1st Lt. Mayada Mohammad Al Dari, Chairman of Women Police Committee indicated the development witnessed by educational curricula of women police, in accordance with best global standards, in addition to the development of training and different skills.
“Women Police personnel receive the same military sciences and training that men elements receive, the thing that enables women elements to outshine men in academic level and police skills. We believe that women have today proved their ability and efficiency in different policing areas”, added Al Dari. The celebrations will continue on Saturday at Khaldiyah Mall .
