The Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, represented by the Police Operations General Directorate, launched an initiative to spread awareness to pilgrims, within the media campaign carried out by the Security Media Directorate, General Secretariat of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
It includes a range of traffic and security awareness initiatives, under the slogan: “For Your Safety.”
Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadi Al Menhali, Director General of Police Operations stated that this initiative is a continuation of previous awareness initiatives.
“It aims to educate pilgrims on prevention and safety requirements, introduce them to a number of services provided by the Abu Dhabi Police through its various teams, strengthen awareness efforts, and raise the safety level, especially the traffic safety to ensure a safe pilgrimage season,” he added.
Major Mohammed Al Menhali emphasized the importance of raising awareness, and introducing pilgrims to many necessary safety requirements enabling them to have a safe and smooth journey.
He pointed out that such trips are implemented according to the modern approach of the Police Headquarters; its modern work concept takes a proactive stance on protecting society rather than only reacting to situations. This new approach allows for full social cohesion with the community.
“Since the beginning of this year, Abu Dhabi Police is keen to intensify its efforts in various locations through the coordination and cooperation among its departments, divisions and concerning branches or through its partnerships with the relevant government bodies, to serve pilgrims by ensuring their safety and providing them with integrated services from the beginning of their trip to the rituals performance,” he continued.
General Al Menhali urged the pilgrims, especially those overland travelers, to implement the safety and security requirements during their journeys and to ensure all the necessary requirements, which will support them in their journey, in coordination with the Police and the concerned authorities.
“We have coordinated with the security media to broadcast a range of awareness ads on screens throughout shopping malls in Abu Dhabi, in a number of residential buildings, in Police directorates, in the Economic Development Department, and in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Abu Dhabi. These awareness messages aim to enhance public safety, develop the security traffic culture via modern means, and raise awareness through the Abu Dhabi Police website in addition to social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter,” he explained.
Major General Al Menhali confirmed Abu Dhabi Police’s commitment to cooperate with partners in various governmental agencies in order to promote public awareness.
He said that the concerned authorities in the Passport Department at the Ghuwaifat border have provided tents equipped with amenities, medical and therapeutic services, water, juices, dates and meals for pilgrims, in collaboration with the concerned authorities in Ghuwaifat center, in order to ease their journeys and will also check their travel documents by taking very little time to do so.
In the end of his speech, Major Al Awadi called on the pilgrims across the UAE to cooperate and abide by the instructions and orientations issued by the concerned authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia once they arrive there. He urged them to provide fully accurate information on themselves and traveling companions to ensure that services are provided to them without delay.
