72 distinguished numbers auctioned for DH50Million
The 20th distinguished numbers auction held at the Emirates palace Hotel has exceeded all expectations setting a new record for six categories of distinguished car number plates. The total revenue from 72 car number plates went for Dh 50 Million.
Brigadier Salim Ali Al Shamsi, Director of Privatization and Resources Development at ADP said "The auction which has been organized by Abu Dhabi Police in collaboration with the Emirates Auctions Company, and supported by Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, has witnessed intense competition between bidders on the two-digit, three-digit, four-digit and five-digit numbers of the sixth category. Number (7) has raised Dh17 Million to become the world's third most expensive car number plate.
The other numbers which raised large amounts were: (60) raised Dh6, 150,000, (333) raised Dh860, 000, (7777) raised Dh1Million. The intense competition indicated the strong stature of Abu Dhabi auctions.
The number (66) raised Dh7, 050,000 to become the world's second most expensive distinguished number, after the distinguished number (11) which had raised Dh8 Million in a previous auction in Abu Dhabi. The number (151) raised Dh 800,000, (700) raised Dh790,000, (60000) raised Dh1,510,000, (66666) raised Dh3,510,000, (10000) raised Dh1Million.
Mr. Abdullah Mattar Al Manaai, Executive manager of Emirates Auction Company stated that the number of participants increased by 25%. There was an atmosphere of excitement among bidders.
The next auction would witness an increase in the number of participants due to the continuous development of services presented to the bidders. A number of participants expressed their satisfaction with the competition atmosphere prevailed during the auction.
Abu Dhabi distinguished number auction is one of the auctions that achieves record revenues. Some participants expressed their happiness with their participation as the auction supports humanitarian projects.
