20 road stars honored by Abu Dhabi Traffic Police

 

Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate has honored around 20 motorists who were the most sticking to the traffic rules while driving on the  roads of Abu Dhabi city. Each one received AED 750 cash prize plus an appreciation certificate. This comes as part of the “road master contest” organized in Abu Dhabi in coordination with Emirates Auto Sport and Motorcycles Association.

Colonel Eng. Hussein Ahmed Al Harthi, Director of Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate affirmed that this contest aims at establishing a bright mental image about sticking to traffic rules and providing a safe traffic environment. This, he added, can be achieved by urging motorists to avoid traffic offences in order to protect our children and families from traffic accidents which could result into huge human and economic loss as well as their negative social and psychological impacts on the family and the society.

He has congratulated the winning drivers, affirming that the prize cares for moral value and not financial value, Positive effect of their driving on roads, setting an example to other drivers through their compliance with traffic rules the thing that enhances traffic safety. He has urged them to contribute to spread of commitment culture so as to boost ADSP efforts.

"The drivers who have won Roadstar prizes have been chosen for their adherence to safe driving standards, traffic laws, speed limits, use of traffic signals, use of seat belt, seating children below ten years of age on their seat at the back of the car and their cooperation with other drivers for safe traffic environment.

Ahmed Al Shareef, Director of Emirates Motor Sports Federation, on his part, he thanked ADP Directorate of Traffic and Patrols for their cooperation in making a success of the event, which is organized in Abu Dhabi City within the framework of partnership and coordination between Abu Dhabi Traffic and Emirates Motor Sports Federation to raise traffic culture level, to encourage motorist to abide by traffic rules and to reduce accidents and the resulting deaths and severe injuries.

 
The winning drivers have been chosen by a Traffic Committee Chaired by Major Saif Al Blushi, Head of Public Relations Section, and the members: Lt. Hamid Mohammad and a number of Patrols personnel. They have monitored the methods that drivers adopt in their driving on different roads, for two days and then have chosen them according to the prescribed standards.
