1435 traffic offences, 783 for not leaving safe distance
ADP GHQ concluded its traffic awareness campaign to educate motorists on the negative aspects of not adhering to a safe distance between vehicles and the resulting accidents leading to loss of lives and properties. The campaign theme was "Keep distance before it is too late".
The total number of traffic offences during the campaign was 1435. 783 of these offences were due to not keeping a safe distance between vehicles in addition to other traffic offences, in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region.
Major General Nasser La Khreibani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the office of HH the Deputy prime Minister and Minister of Interior expressed his appreciation of media means response to the seven-day campaign, from 24 to 27 last January. All citizens, residents and road users responded positively to the campaign.
Al Nuaimi said "HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy prime Minister and Minister of Interior has followed up the news of the campaign on daily basis. HH directed that awareness programmes and activities should be doubled for their effectiveness in creating traffic awareness".
Colonel Hamad Adeel Al Shamsi, Director of Traffic and patrols Department at ADP stressed the importance of motorists' response to the campaign objectives. He also said that his Department always honors exemplary drivers for their continuous commitment.
According to Lt. Colonel Hamad bin Ethieith Al Amri, Head of Traffic Investigation Section of he Traffic and patrols Department at ADP most offences registered during the last few days were in Abu Dhabi City (590), in Al Ain City (41), Western Region (47) and on highways (105). He confirmed that strict traffic control will continue on internal and external roads in Abu Dhabi.. He warned drivers against annoying the divers of the vehicles in front and they should keep safe distance.
