108 Cyber fraud cases reported
in Abu Dhabi Emirate over seven months period
A total of 108 complaints have been filed against cyber related frauds over the past 7months according to police reports of which 97 cases were filed in Abu Dhabi and the rest in Al Ain 6.
Colonel Maktoum Al Shareefi, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Abu Dhabi Police said that the cases include fraudulent SMS and phone calls through social networking sites.
There were also cases of credit cards thefts, obscene phone calls, defamation and publication of personal photos on the internet. The cases also include over listening, cyber spying, selling copies of computer programs and stealing from bank accounts, he added.
Colonel Hamad Ajlan Al Amyami, Director of Al Ain Police Directorate warned all community segments to take utmost precautions against cyber crimes conning of people through SMS, e-mails and international calls.
