children born of foreign mothers in Yemen
In response to the Directives of the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan (God bless him) and by the follow up of Lt. General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the Special Committee has started meeting the children of born to UAE fathers of foreign mothers.
The Committee is chaired by Major General Nasser Al Awadhi Al Minhali, MoI Assistant Undersecretary for naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs. The Committee met the children at the UAE embassy to Yemen and looks into 72 cases.
Al Minhali said "The Committees work is to check the files and carries out examinations and receives cases, 72 cases in total, their ages vary between 5 and 18 years. The cases have already been registered by the embassy and persons who follow up the issue at naturalization and Residency Sector", added al Minhali.
In a statement to the UAE News Agency said "The reviewed files are accumulated from the past, where UAE nationals married to foreign women from the countries visited by the Committee. They had children (males and females) of these marriages. But they faced some problems, such as nuptial irreconcilable differences which led to divorce or lack of sufficient formalities to prove legal paternity of children".
"The Committee has completed a lot of work in this respect. We have dealt with this file in a humanitarian way in accordance with Their Highnesses' directives, whether the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May his soul rest in peace) or His Highness the President (God bless him), in addition to the follow up of HH the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. The Committee looks into these files and will provide all facilities and support, according to the law", added Al Minhali.
He has affirmed that the processing of these files goes according to a clear strategy, started with files examination and then issuing tickets for them to return to their home land to get the countries nationality, after their legal belonging to the country is proved. The second step of the programme is to rehabilitate them and to prepare them for integration into the UAE community with health, educational, social and heritage levels, in order to overcome the diversity of their mothers' cultures and to get one culture and national identity.
The programme will commence after completion of examination stages. They will be subjected to intensive specialized courses according to their age categories. Children below 18 years of age have specific courses and those above 18 will have different programme.
He has affirmed that the return of this category to the country reflects the care and attention which His Highness the President pays to the UAE people inside and outside the country, so as to live a decent life. The programme is comprehensive in a way that enables this category to possess our national identity, norms and traditions.
In this regard there is no problem if the mother of Arab nationality, not like Asian mothers, where the children of this category will be subjected to integration programme.
