Under the patronage of Lt. General H.H Sheikh Seif Ben Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the “My Family, My Responsibility” campaign kicks off tomorrow Sunday in Abu Dhabi. The campaign, carried out by Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, in collaboration with the Emirates Nursing Association, will take place at Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi and Al Bawadi Mall in Al Ain.

Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director of Abu Dhabi Police Central Operations, underscored the importance of the campaign carried out by the Emergency and Public Safety Department at the Abu Dhabi Police Central Operations Department, with the cooperation of numerous partners. He indicated that the campaign aims to enhance public awareness, and educate both parents and children on the best means of prevention against domestic accidents, and how to deal with them when they occur.  He noted that Abu Dhabi Police has prioritized the issue of enhancing mutual cooperation with partners to achieve a safer and more secure society.

Major General Al Raisi said that the concerned Police and Civil Defense agencies are keen to communicate closely with all the components of the local society to increase safety levels. This is achieved by making field visits to increase people’s awareness, and to qualify them with training programs aimed at preparing qualified teams to face any potential emergencies.

He also stressed the Abu Dhabi Police’s continuous endeavors, with the cooperation of concerned institutions and entities, to achieve the Ministry of Interior’s strategic goals, for sustainable security and safety. Moreover, he pointed out to the tireless efforts of Civil Defense and concerned Police entities’ staff to spread knowledge on precautionary measures and means.

He also stressed the keenness to intensify awareness efforts to educate citizens and residents, and to implement various educational programs and campaigns such as the “My Family, My Responsibility” campaign,   hoping that it will fulfill its purpose to increase public awareness, particularly within families.

Major General Al Raisi underscored the importance of cooperation between all community segments to achieve the campaign’s goals, to enhance prevention and safety requirements to avoid all forms of accidents, particularly at home. He called on families and community members to avoid all causes of accidents and fires. He also urged them to supervise their children, and warn them against the dangers of playing in kitchens and with electrical appliances. Moreover, he stressed the need to put sharp tools, matches, and medical drugs out of children’s reach, and to make sure they are safely kept in unreachable locations.

The various entities  participating in this awareness campaign work diligently to  increase  awareness and education, emphasizing  the parents’ role to provide  care, attention , supervision and to provide  a safe environment at home for their children, to avoid  accidents that usually occur as a result of non-commitment  to public safety and prevention requirements, particularly  by children,  who are the most vulnerable to accidents, because they do not realize the risks that may befall them.

The campaign’s agenda includes cultural exhibitions in a number of malls across the Abu Dhabi emirate, as well as field visits to a number of governmental institutions, universities, institutes, schools, citizens’ councils in a number of residential areas in Abu Dhabi.
