“Human Trafficking” Symposium share shelter experience

 

The Trafficking in Persons Symposium has recommended adoption of best practices in investigating these crimes, cooperation with relevant authorities and providing psychological and social protection for the victims. Experiences of advanced countries shall be used in this regard. Cooperation of Medias in creating awareness against this menace.
 
The closing sessions of the symposium at Abu Dhabi aloft Hotel was witnessed by Brigadier Omeir Mohammad Al Miheiri, Deputy Director General of Policing Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, Colonel Ali Saeed, Deputy Director of CID, Meera Al Manssouri, Director of Operations at the Women and Children Sheltering Center and a number of officers and officials from the participating agencies.

Colonel (Dr.) Rashid Mohammad Bu Rashid, Head of Organized Crime Section at the CID said “The organizing committee of the Symposium will study the proposals and recommendations made by the participants and will be submitted to the police organization leadership”.

“The UAE is one of the leading countries in acting law and legislations, and joining international conventions and protocols confronting trafficking in persons crimes”, added Bu Rashid.

He has lauded the efforts of the participating agencies: MoI, Ministry of Labor, National Committee of Trafficking in Persons, and MoI Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons, Victims Sheltering Center and the Police College.

Senior Specialist Fatma Sayah Al Mazroui has presented the experience of the Women and Children Sheltering Center. She has lauded ADP efforts and other relevant authorities in organizing this Symposium and giving the participants the opportunity to learn how to investigate and protect the victims.

She has stated that two new sheltering centers will be open soon in Sharjah and RAK. The inmates receive best medical, social and financial care during their stay at the center. Then their travel to their homelands is secured. The center tries also to find jobs for them there and communicates with them through different means of communication.

She has affirmed that their humanity is well respected and they are sympathized with. The staff is flexible in their questions to the victims and always gives the victims the sense of reassurance, consider their feelings, give them hope of promising future and instill hope in them to change their lives for the best.

Brigadier Al Miheiri has honored the participating authorities, officers and individuals. He has lauded the efforts of all participants which contributed to achievement of several goals and arriving at effective recommendations which would enhance ADP efforts to achieve the objectives of ADP strategy to confront these crimes and to protect their victims.
