Al Ain and Western Region Police celebrate the World Anti-Narcotics Day
Al Ain and the Western region Police Directorates celebrated the World Anti-Narcotics Day, under the slogan ((My family is My Happiness000No to Drugs)). The programme included awareness lectures, shows and student processions.
Colonel Humaid Saeed Al Azri, Deputy Director of Al Ain Police Directorate for Administration and Financial Affairs witnessed the opening ceremony of the awareness campaign activities at Al Ain Mall, which will continue from June, 26 to July, 2.
Major Abdullah Al Hassani, Director of Anti-narcotics Branch, said in his speech on the occasion "MoI and ADP GHQ are keen to spread security awareness among community members, which is a joint responsibility which can not be achieved without the solidarity of all for more safe and stable community".
"Drugs are the most dangerous disaster known by humans especially the drugs abusers are in increase. Drug abusers commit crimes and are exposed to social, economic and psychological troubles. He urges all community members to report any drug abuser or peddler", added Al Hassani.
The celebrations included the show of a film titled "They Killed Me", It was about a young man who fell victim to drug abuse because of bad companions. His father did not report him to authorities concerned because of fatherly love etc. A number of government departments and agencies participated in the exhibition organized on the side lines of the ceremonies. The celebrations ere attended by Lt. Colonel Mohammad Suhail al Rashdi, Deputy Director for Police Stations affairs and a number of government and private sector departments and agencies directors.
The Western region Police Directorate celebrated the same occasion at the City mall in Zayed City. Colonel Saeed bin Tarees Al Dhahri, Director of Police Directorate said in his speech "The attention paid to the family in this year celebrations confirms its importance as a small cell on which the country is based. All efforts to create an aware and active community rely on it. The Police Directorate has prepared an awareness plan which will be implemented all over the region. He urges parents to focus on youth category and educate them on the dangers of drugs".
The programme of celebrations included an awareness lecture delivered by Dr. Anas Mahmood Fikri from Abu Dhabi rehabilitation Center. An exhibition was also organized on the occasion where brochures and publications were distributed, in addition to students' processions.
The Directorate has prepared a number of topics on its web site, which highlight the risks and dangers of drugs to community especially youth and students category, in collaboration with relevant authorities.
The celebrations were attended by Colonel Ujeil Ali Abdullah, deputy Director for Police Stations and Investigations, officers and officials from government and private sectors, at the Western region.
