"Al Ain Traffic" warns against reckless bikers
The Traffic and Patrols Section at al Ain Police Directorate has warned against reckless behaviors while driving motor bikes on roads and areas where the driving of motor bikes is prohibited and their adverse effects which lead to traffic accidents, whether by motor bikes drivers or other road users when they are disturbed by motor bikes drivers.
Police elements in Al Ain have distributed awareness brochures at motor bike rent shops to educate the fans of this hobby on the safe use of these vehicles to ensure the safety of motor bikes users and other road users.
Lt. Colonel Hamad Nasser Al Blushi, Head of Al Ain Traffic Section said "large numbers of people enjoy driving motor bikes because they satisfy the spirit of adventure, challenge and excitement spirit. But they are at the same time very dangerous if their users do not adhere to safety rules and regulations".
Al Blushi has affirmed that necessary actions will be taken against motor bikes drivers who violate traffic rules. The areas where driving of motor bikes is allowed include, Al Ain Airport from Al Dahma roundabout to the north west, Naahil Sandy Area (Without residential neighborhoods), Al Sad Area which includes Al Sad Hill and the circuits of Al Ain Club for Fans under supervision of Al Ain Traffic Section.
There are places where this sport is not allowed, such as the place announced on traffic signboards, residential neighborhoods, and internal main roads in Al Ain, areas near Etihad Road to Al Ain Airport Bridge, Badaa Bint Soud Area and wildlife reserves.
The Traffic Section has stipulated some conditions for the use of trailer to carry motor bikes; the number of the vehicle should be fixed on the rear of the trailer, adherence to the right lane at all times, slow driving, the trailer should be provided with a reflective sticker. All these precautions are for the safety of this sport fans.
If these conditions are violated the motor bike ill be confiscated. The driver should carry with him his driving licence; the motor bike should be registered as well.
Driving of motor bikes is hobby which worries many people in the UAE community. Although the driving of motor bikes is exciting but they endanger the lives of children who use them at the residential areas without considering safety rules and registration. The law punishes those who practice their hobby in residential areas and places where their use is prohibited.
