The summer program activities for Al Ain Police Officers children continued at the Al Ain Police Officers Club. The program is held for the third consecutive year, and participation has been widened this year to include female participants for the first time, to encourage them to well invest their free time.

Colonel Hareb Khamis Al Khaili, Director of Al Ain Police Officers Club said that the summer program, which will conclude on July 18, 2012, receives great attention from the officers of Al Ain Police and achieves remarkable success year after year.

He stated that the program witnessed increasing turnout and participation from Officers’ children this year, noting that the number of participants increased from 67 last year to 84 this year, and the ages of participants ranged between 8-14 years. He added that this year’s program was marked by the female participation for the first time, which constitutes a positive step towards achieving benefits for both sexes.

Moreover, Al Khaili explained that this program embodies the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters’ strategy, aimed to fill the children’s leisure time with cultural, religious, sports and entertaining activities during the summer vacation.

He pointed out that the summer program, since its inception in 2010, has witnessed a significant turnout and participation from officers’ children who commended the concept, objectives, and positive aspects of the program especially in such a time of the year.

Al Khaili added: “The program includes several educational lectures in civil defense and social support, in addition to sports activities such as football (soccer), chess and swimming, as well as recreational visits to shopping malls, and touristic and heritage landmarks in Al Ain. Prizes were dedicated and competitions were organized to select distinguished members in all activities to promote the spirit of fair competition between participants.”

He continued: “The program also includes field trips to some police departments, such as the Traffic and Civil Defense Institute; the Security Check Division (K-9); to acquaint participants with the nature of the work and efforts to promote security, stability and public safety, and raise the levels of traffic security and preventive awareness among the students.”

At the end of his speech, Al Khaili called on parents to follow up with their children during the summer vacation, and make sure they enroll in centers and clubs that provide useful programs and activities; encourage children to raise the level of their skills and abilities; spread awareness among them on the appropriate activities for them, especially regarding the use of modern technology to their benefit; and encourage them to go to public places that suit their age. He reiterated that police departments are working continuously and diligently to provide comfort and good services to participants.
