The Western Region Police Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police began its preparations to provide services to pilgrims, as part of an integrated plan focused on the safety of travelers by land, on the road leading to the Ghuwaifat border exit. These measures coincide with the beginning of land trips to transport pilgrims to the Holy Land to perform the Hajj rituals.
Colonel Ajil Ali Abdullah, Acting Director of the Western Region Police Directorate emphasized that the Directorate will provide a mobile workshop covering the Western Region, from Al Dhabia to Al Ghuwaifat, to repair any breakdowns in pilgrims’ buses, and provide alternative means of transport for them. He pointed out that the workshop will comprise a group of professional technicians specialized in car repair, in addition to spare parts needed to fix the stalled vehicles; and that extra buses will be available to carry pilgrims whose buses do not respond to repairs, to ensure their smooth and safe flow on the roads, and provide the necessary assistance for vehicles that break down during the trip.
As part of the Abu Dhabi Police’s awareness initiative for pilgrims, under the slogan, “Your Safety”, Colonel Ajil Ali Abdullah, called on motorists and bus drivers as well as pilgrim tour operators to specify their location through the milestones on the road and call the number (999) for assistance, in case of breakdown.
Moreover, Colonel Al Ali urged bus drivers to take some rest and to stop driving if they feel tired; as well as to make sure there’s an alternative driver to replace the driver when necessary; not to exceed designated speed limits; abide by traffic laws and regulations, to ensure safe arrival to the Holy Land, perform the Hajj rituals and safely return to the country.
The Western Region Police Directorate also provides awareness services for travelers by land at the Adnoc Petrol Station, Abu Al Abyad. This initiative comes in line with Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters’ strategy; aimed at enhancing community confidence in police services and public safety.
