Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior, met in his office Hirofumi Ocama, Assistant Director General of the Anti-drug Japanese National Agency and the accompanying delegation, currently visiting the state.
During the meeting, the two parties discussed ways of reinforcing cooperation and coordination between the Ministries of Interior of UAE and Japan, in the various security areas; and combating drugs in particular.
Colonel Saeed Al Suwaidi, Director General of Anti-narcotics Department at the Ministry of Interior attended the meeting; alongside Colonel Abdul Raman Al Owais, Deputy Director General; and Nobuo Oahyara from the Consulate General in Dubai.
Lt. General Al Sha’far lauded the friendship ties between the two countries, and the existing security cooperation between the ministries of Interior in the UAE and Japan, stressing the keenness of the UAE to enhance the relations with the Agency, which has yielded many achievements.
Assistant Director General of the Anti-drug Japanese National Agency met Colonel Saeed Al Suwaidi, Director General of Anti-narcotics Department, in the presence of a number of Department’s officers.
The two parties discussed a number of topics on exchanging expertise, cooperation and coordination between the two countries in the fight against drugs.
It is noteworthy that the anti narcotics authorities in the UAE, in cooperation with their Japanese counterparts, foiled the smuggling of Crystal drugs weighing 12kg, and instructed to seize the recipient in Japan. Another 4 kg of the same drug was also seized with two gang members in the state.
The Japanese authorities praised the cooperation of the UAE Anti-narcotics authorities and the Anti-drug Japanese National Agency, which led to the arrest of a Crystal smuggling and trafficking gang in Japan.
At the end of the meeting, the two parties exchanged gifts and commemorative shields.
