Traffic Department launches campaigns to impound unregistered vehicles
ADP Traffic and Patrols Department will launch traffic controls campaigns, with effect from the next week, on internal and external roads involving ordinary and semi-civilian patrol cars, to seize and impound vehicles whose registration have expired, in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region.
Colonel (Engineer) Hussain Ahmed Al Harthi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department at Abu Dhabi Police said "Implementation of impound punishment will be implemented immediately and the driver will bb booked in presence. Punishment will include vehicles that exceeded one month after expiry of their registration".
"Owners of held vehicles will not be allowed to use their vehicles until they settle violations through payment of fines and technical inspection procedures", he added.
He calls on drivers and companies which own fleets of vehicles to ensure they are duly registered to avoid punishment. All motorists shall bear with them the driving licence and vehicle registration card. Not bearing these documents is considered an offence which may lead to many delays until they are produced.
He warns unregistered vehicles and motor bikes drivers who drive them in neighborhoods and on side-roads that the control campaigns supervised by police officers will monitor these areas round the clock.
