The Abu Dhabi Police concluded the activities of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, organized by the Anti-Narcotics Department under the theme: ‘Accompany Who Accompanies You... and No To Drugs.’ The celebration, which took place at Mushrif Mall in Abu Dhabi, attracted more than 5,000 visitors from different social backgrounds.
The Abu Dhabi Police week-long celebrations of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking witnessed a great attendance from the public and Mushrif Mall visitors. A large number of attendees participated in the open contest that included questions on drugs and narcotics, their impact on society and punishment related to them. The educational play on the dangers of drugs, organized by the Anti-Narcotics Department, received positive responses from the public who showed their interest regardless their age or nationality.
A significant part of the audience was eager to visit the educational security exhibition that accompanied the celebration and was joined by different police departments. Children were also able to participate in painting and coloring, innocently expressing their refusal to the drug epidemic that destroys lives.
Many attendees, particularly parents, assured that the activities of this year represent a direct message to families. This message focuses on the importance of monitoring children and getting to know their friends in order to prevent them from falling into bad friendships and experimenting with drugs, which have a negative and fatal impact on all family members.
They commended Abu Dhabi Police, represented by the Anti-Narcotics Department at the Criminal Investigation Department, for its dedication to follow up these activities and send educational messages to all society members; citizens and residents. They also praised its efforts in combating crime, especially those related to drugs, by standing against “death merchants” that promote drugs threatening the safety and security of society and destroying families.
Among the many entities that participated in sponsoring the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, were the Emirates Identity Authority, as the official sponsor, along with Abu Dhabi Municipality, the General Directorate of Customs, and Mushrif Mall.
