Headed by Lt. General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the Federal Demographics Council discussed in its sixth session, the Emirati values project prepared by the Council in collaboration with the UAE University. The Council also discussed establishing broad centers to examine labors, upon the directives of the Cabinet's decision.
Dr. Saeed Abdullah, Acting Deputy Secretary General in the Council, and Dr. Omar Al Nuaimi, from UAE University, gave a detailed presentation about the Emirati values project through a study. This study is considered to be the first of its kind to determine the essential values system carried out by UAE citizens, and understand the role of these values in the behavior and thoughts of locals and citizens.
The study pointed out that values are considered an original motive deeply rooted in all humans that guide and justify his actions, thoughts, traditions and behaviors. The study determined the essential values which help in achieving the UAE vision for 2021 that focuses on a responsible UAE citizen who contributes actively in a knowledge-based economy.
The project covered some recommendations and initiatives to activate the values which contribute in fulfilling the ambitions of the community and its future goals while preserving the original values of this society.
Furthermore, Dr. Saeed Abdullah presented a study about the test centers which will contribute in limiting the unorganized recruitment of unskilled labor. The test centers will be set up in the origin countries that are exporting labor, to examine the labor before bringing it to UAE.
These centers will focus on the construction sector in the first place, whereas the studies showed that a good skilled laborer can substitute for two or three unskilled workers. The council aims through this initiative, to bring in skilled labors of high productivity which will eventually reduce the overall size of labor in the country.
The sixth session was attended by Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Labor, and Deputy Director of the Federal Demographics Council, Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, State Minister of Foreign Affairs, and State Minister of Federal Demographic Council Affairs, Mariam Mohammed Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of Social Affairs, and Rashid Salim Lakhribani Al Nuaimi, Member and Secretary General of the council.
The meeting was also attended by Major General Nasser Salim Lakhreibani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of His Highness Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Hamid Saeed Al Doori, Assistant Secretary General of the Strategy and Communication with the Council, Dr. Saeed Abdullah, Acting Secretary General of Policies in the Council and Dr. Omar AL Nuaimi from UAE University.
