The Strategy and Performance Development Department at the General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Civil Defense and Emergency and Public Safety Department conducted a successful mock drill on extinguishing a fire that erupted at the building of the General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police, with the participation of senior officers.
The scenario began with a tip off that was received by the Abu Dhabi police operation room at 9:00 am. sirens went off and safety guides evacuated the building waiting for arrival of the civil defense and ambulance teams.
Evacuation plan was implemented according to the set scenario, with all concerned police and civil defense agencies and support units deployed to the scene as soon as possible. All the participating teams have dealt professionally with the virtual accident.
Colonel Faisal Sultan Al Shu'aibi, Director of Strategy and Performance Development at the General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police, stressed that the exercise is part of implementing the environment, health and safety management system at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ.
He added that the Abu Dhabi Police is working to implement many actions and programs to protect the environment, conserve natural resources and safeguard members, stressing keenness on holding partnership between different of government and private sectors , as well as pursuing the development and implementation of relevant projects.
For his part, Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Acting Director General of Civil Defense in Abu Dhabi police said that the center of Technical Rescue and Rapid Intervention at the Abu Dhabi area of Al Falah received a tip off at nine o'clock in the morning. The personnel moved to the incident location immediately and arrived within five minutes.
Abu Dhabi ambulance vehicles were also deployed to the scene to take part as a first responder.
According to a scenario, the building was evacuated, four injured people were rescued and ambulance vehicles offered them necessary medical care.
The fire was brought under control and mock operation finished at 09:40 am. All employees resumed their work.
