The Special Tasks Department secured the first place in the overall in the 9th Athletics Championship, which was held on Tuesday at the Armed Forces Officers Club. The event hosted 80 participants and was organized by the Sports Section of the Department of Strategy and Performance Development at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters. The Government and Diplomatic Facilities Protection Department came second and Al Ain Police Directorate came third.
In terms of the individual competitions, the Al Ain Police Directorate’s team took first place in the 4x100-meter relay race. The Central Operations Department’s team came in second place and the Emergency and Public Safety Department’s team finished third.
Ahmed Darwish of the Western Region Police finished first place in the 400-meter running race, with a time of 45.33 seconds followed by Soud Jomaa from the Directorate General of the Central Operations, who finished with a time of 54.76 seconds, and Ahmed Saleh from the Al Ain Police Directorate came third with a time of 54.92 seconds.
In the 800-meter running race, Soud Jomaa from the Directorate General of the Central Operations finished first place with a time of 2.08 minutes. Mohammad Khalfan from the Western Region Police came in second place with a time of 2 minutes and13 seconds, and Ahmad Darwish from the Western Region Police came in third with a time of 2 minutes and 13 seconds. Ahmad Saleh from Al Ain Police Directorate finished first in the 100-meter sprint, with a time of 11.25 seconds, while Ali Akida from the Special Tasks Department came in second with a time of 11.53 seconds, followed by Jomaa Sayed from Al Ain Police Directorate with a time of 11.54 seconds.
Omar Al Dhaheri from the Special Tasks Department was ranked first in the discus throw competition with a distance of 12.33 meters, while Mohammad Moualem from the same department came in second place with a distance of 10.75 meters, and Ahmed Abdullah Al Shamesi from the Government and Diplomatic Facilities Protection Department finished in third place with a distance of 10.31 meters.
In the high jump competition, Zuhair Rashid Al Marshadi from the Government and Diplomatic Facilities Protection Department took first place. Jaber Mohammad from the Special Tasks Department came in second place, and Abdullah Al Dhaheri from the Information and Communication Technology Department came in third. Saeed Salem Al Saadi from the Emergency and Public Safety Department ranked first in the long jump competition, while Ali Akida from the Special Tasks Department came second, and Ali Salim from Al Ain Police Directorate came third.
Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, the General Secretariat of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, highlighted the commitment of Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters to develop the skills of its personnel through the establishment of sports championships that improve the fitness level of officers, non-commissioned officers, and individuals.
First Lieutenant Jamal Issa Al-Saadi, Director of Sports Teams and Competitions of the Sports Section at the Department of Strategy and Performance Development at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters distributed the victory cups and medals to the winners of the tournament.
Finally, First Lieutenant Al-Saadi mentioned that the competition culminates the sporting activity program for the sports excellence shield referring to the organization of various tournaments and sports competitions for members of the Abu Dhabi Police. Moreover, this competition realized success and excellence through the active participation of the departments of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters.
