During a visit to the city of Calicut, in India, the Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior discussed means to develop a mechanism, to educate Indian communities about UAE laws, before travelling to the country; as well as efforts to promote awareness in the areas of security and safety.
The Security Media Department’s delegation, headed by Lieutenant Colonel Saeed Al Khaja, Deputy Director of Technical Affairs and Security Media Department, met with Calicut Police Commissioner G. Sparjan Kumar, and a number of staff working in the field of police awareness. Commissioner Kumar commended the Security Media Department’s initiative; stressing the keenness to cooperate to achieve common security goals.
The delegation visited the Manorama newspaper head office published in the Malayalam language in Calicut. Moreover, it explored the possibilities of media cooperation in policing areas; and acquainting readers with UAE laws, as well as its societal and cultural values. The newspaper officials confirmed their keenness to provide all means of cooperation in this regard, through their Dubai-based office.
The delegation also visited the Siraj Indian newspaper head office in the city. It reviewed means of joint cooperation and spreading awareness about the UAE laws and regulations; given that Kerala nationals represent the largest community of Indian Diaspora in UAE.
The editorial team of the Siraj newspaper, which greeted the Abu Dhabi Police delegation, included the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the newspaper, Mr. Kantaboram; the General Manager of the Calicut version, editor-in-chief; as well as Mounir Siraj, the Abu Dhabi office representative and other members of the editorial team.
The Security Media Department’s delegation, headed by Lieutenant Colonel Saeed Al Khaja, included Captain Ahmed Naseeb Al-Mansouri, Head of the Media Strategy Section, and Ahmed Al Dahmani, Assistant Director of communications in the Department.
Deputy Director of Technical Affairs and Security Media Department lauded the outcomes of the visit, praising the efforts of the Siraj press group, which represents a promising indicator for a better cooperation with all versions of the newspaper published in Kerala, covering all of Trivandrum, Kochi, Trichur and Calicut areas and regions.
The delegation then visited other media facilities and a number of police stations, to discuss joint cooperation in the areas of media security awareness.
