Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, held a ceremony in his office, to honor the Ministry of Interior’s team, represented by the Dubai Police GHQ. The team recently won the United Nations Public Service Award for “Promoting gender equality in public service”.

His Highness awarded the team the medal of functional excellence, lauding this achievement that best represents the United Arab Emirates. He also congratulated the team members on receiving this prestigious international award.

Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan also honored HE Prince Khaled Al Kamda, Director General, Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai; and Samir Anouti, UNICEF Middle East and North Africa Regional Office Chief; in recognition of their cooperation with the Ministry of Interior; and for nominating the Dubai Police GHQ team for this award.

The ceremony was attended by Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior; Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police; Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior for Resources and Support Services; His Highness Major General Sheikh Taleb Bin Saqr Al Qassimi, the Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Police Department; Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; and Major General Staff Obeid Al Hiri Salim Al Kutbi, deputy commander-in-chief of Abu Dhabi Police. Also attending were, Major-General Hamid Mohammed Al Hudaidi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police; Dubai Police Deputy Commander in Chief, Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina; Major General Taresh Eid Al Mansouri, director of the Human Resources Department at Dubai police; Major General Dr. Abdul Quddus Abdul Razak Al Obaidaly, Director General, Directorate General of Total Quality in Dubai Police; Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Director - General of the Headquarters Affairs at Abu Dhabi Police; and a number of officers.

The United Nations Public Service Awards aims to identify and reward the latest innovations and creative initiatives of public service institutions and promote professionalism in public service. It also aims to motivate government sector employees, to raise the level of innovation, and build trust between institutions and governments, as well as share successful practices with other similar institutions.

Among the winning entries, the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Dubai Police GHQ, earned first-place positions; as the UAE representative in the event.
