Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has agreed to become the honorary chair for the SAAED Society Board to Reduce Traffic Accidents.
During a meeting with the President and members of the board of directors of the Society, in his office, Sheikh Saif recommended that the Society shall have a role in social responsibility, through strengthening and extending bridges of cooperation with civil society organizations in the areas of traffic, based on the efforts the UAE is making to achieve the noble objectives of the Society, thus serving the community and maintaining higher levels of traffic safety.
He called for increased cooperation with associations and clubs of the communities within the State; to strengthen its role in educating their citizens about the laws of the UAE in the field of traffic safety and the prevention and reduction of traffic accidents, and awareness about the size and the tragedies of the incidents in cooperation with the relevant authorities.
Sheikh Saif was briefed on the role and contributions of the Society since its establishment in 2010 to reduce the mortality rate and curb traffic accidents on the roads, in addition to a number of topics that serve the interests of the society and the development of services undertaken by the Society.
He listened to a number of proposals, ideas and new solutions, which would develop the work of the Society to reduce traffic accidents, and was also briefed on the recommendations that will contribute to translating these proposals into practical action.
Those attending were Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Director - General of the Headquarters Affairs at Abu Dhabi Police, the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Society who are: Brigadier Engineer Hussein Ahmad Al Harithi, President of the Society, Mohammed Ahmed bin Sulayem, Vice President, Ali Salem Al Qeshi , Secretary , Yousif Eissa Al Refai, Treasurer, and Members including Lieutenant Colonel Jamal Al Ameri, Executive Director of the Society , Lt. Col. Dr. Salah Obeid Al Ghoul, Saeed Mohammed Al Muqbali and Obeid Khalifa Al Jaber.
Brigadier Engineer Hussein Al Harithi, Director of Traffic and Patrols at Abu Dhabi Police, Chairman of the Society, expressed his thanks and gratitude to Sheikh Saif for agreeing to become the honorary chair for the Society, saying this would largely contribute to finding solutions for a lot of traffic problems facing the society.
The Ministry of Social Affairs announced the establishment of ‘SAAED', a non-profit association that aims to reduce traffic accidents through awareness programmes, as per the ministerial decree No. 189 for the year 2010 on 26 April 2010.
