The 5th annual sports competition for members of the Ministry of Interior will be launched in April in Zayed Sports City, the headquarters of the Ministry of Interior, and the Abu Dhabi Officer’s Club. The event is organized by the Police Sports Association, and will continue for 12 days.
During a meeting at the Association's headquarters, the organizing committee discussed preparations with representatives from sectors participating in the event. The meeting was headed by Brigadier Abdul Malik Jani, Department Director of the Police Sports Association.
Welcoming the attendees; Brigadier Jani assured the importance of participating in sports activities due to its positive effect on police members and their performance.
He added: “This meeting was held to exchange reviews and coordinate on a managerial and technical level with all departments participating in the sports competitions. The competitions should be well organized and prepared so as to represent the ministry in a distinguished manner.”
He said: “The increase in number of participants this year demonstrates everyone’s interest in these competitions, and their willingness to fulfill the Ministry’s strategy that aims to prepare police members physically and socially. A technical committee was formed to track the sports events and study all the updates of these activities.”
The attendees discussed a number of subjects regarding the rules and regulations for organizing sports events for the Ministry of Interior’s members. The meeting also discussed forming committees from different departments with each sector represented by its own color; the attendees also discussed the technical conditions that should be applied in all competitions.
The meeting was attended by Lt. Colonel Aref Ali Al Rayes, Head of Sports Activities Department in Police Sports Association ; Lt. Colonel Nasser Mankoush from the Undersecretary of the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior, and representatives from different sectors participating in the sports competitions.
The sports competitions include football, beach volleyball, table tennis, tug-of-war, snooker, male shooting competition, female shooting competition, swimming, bowling, running and walking races, and electronic football. In addition, there will be educational competitions for men and women. The sports activities will be held in many locations such as Zayed Sports City, the headquarters of the Ministry of Interior, and Abu Dhabi Officer’s Club.
