Police ‘Tug of War’ Championship organized by the Police Sport Federation began today “Tuesday” at the Al Fujairah Corniche with the participation of more than 100 athletes.
The single round-robin style competition brings a number of teams representing Abu Dhabi Police, Dubai Police, Fujairah Police, naturalization and residency, and federal police school in Sharjah.
Abu Dhabi Police team defeated Al Fujairah police team, and Dubai police defeated the federal police school team in the opening day.
The Ministry of Interior pays special attention to the sport sector based on its deep belief in the importance of sports and its positive impacts on heath, mentality and fitness of the police personnel, said Deputy Commander General of Al Fujairah Police, Colonel Mohammed Rashed bin Nayea said in the opening ceremony, Holding sport competitions coincides with the ministry’s approach of disseminating sports among all staff members, he added praising the role of Police Sport Federation and all the committees which spared no effort to make this event a success.
Director of the Police Sport Federation, Colonel Abdulmalik Jani stressed the importance of such championships which help participants gain high physical fitness and create spirit of competition among them. Such championships could also be a good chance to discover new talented athletes to represent the country in the international arenas, he added.
