The Ministry of Interior signed today a partnership agreement with the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) at the ministry’s headquarters. The agreement has the aim of strengthening cooperation and coordination between the entities in order to enhance the security and safety of civil aviation in the country, as well as facilitate the exchange of expertise, capabilities and resources.

It was signed by Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior and Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Civil Aviation Authority.

The agreement stems from the commitment of both parties towards public matters and the directives of the government to activate partnerships between different governmental institutions to ensure the targeted vision and goals. It also comes within the efforts of all governmental institutions to offer excellent community services based on the principles of participation and collaboration to reach a high level of development, sophistication, and prosperity.

Under the agreement, the two parties seek to establish the strategy, vision and general goals of the country in relation to the safety and security of aviation and enhance the level of cooperation and coordination, which serves the interests of the two parties. They also seek to elevate and develop institutional work and excel in service performance and quality in addition to providing community services that meet the ambitions of the government and ensure continuous cooperation between the two parties in aviation accidents.

The agreement aims to organize and develop the procedures related to investigating aviation accidents through coordination both inside and outside of the accident location and utilize the powers authorized to each party in accordance with the laws and regulations applicable in the country.

The signing ceremony was attended by Colonel Mohammad Khalifa Al Marar, Director General of Undersecretary Diwan of Ministry of Interior; Lt. Colonel Ali Saeed Al Ka’abi, from the Undersecretary Diwan; and Major Turki Saeed Al Dhuhouri, Head of Legislation Division at the Legal Affairs Department at the Ministry.

From the GCAA, the ceremony was attended by Engineer Ismaeel Mohammed Abdulwahid, Executive Director of Air Accidents Investigations and Saeed Mohammad Al Suwaidi, Secretary of the Director General.
