The Al Ain Emergency and Public Safety Department at Abu Dhabi Police Directorate General of Central Operations, organized a symposium at the Bin Ham Council, on the best means and methods to deal with household emergency incidents.
The symposium, presented by the “My Family, My Responsibility” campaign team, was attended Sheikh Muslim Bin Salem Bin Ham, member of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi’s Advisory Council, president of the Bin Ham Group. Also attending were Sheikh Saeed Bin Salem Bin Ham; Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Muslim Bin Ham, member of the Federal National Council, along with a large crowd from the Awamer tribe and other tribes, a number of public figures and journalists.
Sheikh Muslim Bin Salem Bin Ham expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Lt. General H.H Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and to all Abu Dhabi Police GHQ staff for their tireless efforts to promote security and safety in the State, through the various awareness campaigns carried out by Abu Dhabi Police.
For his part, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Ham indicated that the symposium aims to acquaint citizens with the best means and methods to handle accidents. He added that the program is designed to provide participants with necessary skills and knowledge to avoid risks and ensure their safety, in addition to the means of stability and security for them and their loved ones.
He stressed the need to enhance readiness to face such incidents, at home or elsewhere. For this end, the symposium aims to promote safety requirements, to ensure total protection for individuals.
For his part, Captain Khamis Al Wahshi, from the Al Ain Emergency and Public Safety Department, noted that the symposium is part of a campaign "My family, My Responsibility” campaign, recently launched by Abu Dhabi Police. “The campaign includes cultural exhibitions in a number of malls across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, as well as field visits to a number of governmental institutions such as universities, schools and others. This aims to acquaint the public with methods of search, rescue, and evacuation; promote awareness on the risks of accidents such as drowning, fires, and electricity-related accidents; safety requirements at home; ways to handle injuries; and child care in particular,” he continued.
Furthermore, First Lieutenant Ahmed Rashid Al Zahmi gave an overview of the various methods to deal with dangers and accidents. The symposium also included theoretical applications on Civil Defense sciences, namely; fire extinguishing; rescue and evacuation; prevention and home safety; etc…In addition to a number of practical applications and hands-on training on Civil Defense equipment, and how to use them in mock-up accidents and drills, as well as training on the use of handheld fire extinguishers.
For his part, Coach Imad Al Bashir explained to the audience how to handle an injured person, provide him with first-aid and control risks. He also acquainted the audience with efficient ways to deal with fires and earthquakes to prevent the spread of fires, and means to reduce their resulting losses.
Concluding, Al Bashir underscored the importance of training on first-aid, evacuation and rescue methods, as well as training on the use of handheld fire extinguishers, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), leadership and dealing with the public and other relevant topics.
