MoI participates in the 79th Meeting of Interpol in Qatar
A delegation from MoI headed by Lt. General Saif Abdullah al Shaafar, MoI Undersecretary participated yesterday, Monday in the opening ceremony of the 79th Meeting of Interpol General Assembly in Doha, State of Qatar. The Session which was held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Tameem bin Hamad Al Thani, Crown Prince of Qatar, would continue for four days. About 1,000 security officials from 188 countries and 65 regional organizations participated in the event.
The meeting would discuss a number of topics, including the proposal of Interpol passport which would be used by the International Organization staff and Heads of National Offices like UN passport.
They would also discuss establishment of a regional department of the Organization in Singapore and latest international developments, such as fighting all types of crime, terrorism, human trafficking, illegal immigration, many laundry and cyber crimes.
A Technical Exhibition would be organized on the side lines of the meeting. 26 companies would showcase their latest security equipment.
The opening ceremony at Doha Sheraton Hotel was attended by Ministries of Interior, police commanders and security directors from all over the world.
The UAE delegation comprised Major General Khamis Saif bin Suwaif, MoI Director General of Criminal Security, Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mizeinah, Deputy C-in-C of Dubai Police, Brigadier Ahmed Mohammad Nekheirah, Director of Human Rights at the Secretariat General of the Office of HH the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Lt. Colonel Jamal Saif Faris, Director of International Cooperation and a number of Interpol Experts.
