MoI discuss programs to ensure child protection

The Awareness, Information and Research Subcommittee affiliated to the Higher Committee for Child Protection at the Ministry of Interior has discussed its proposals on launching a number of programs and activities that focus on raising awareness about child protection.

These programs are scheduled to be launched during the new school year.

The committee held a meeting presided over by Colonel Dr. Jassem Merza, chairman of the committee, Lt. Colonel Faisal Al Shammari, deputy chairman of the committee and the members at the headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police.

During the meeting, it was agreed to hold a training workshop for social workers at schools with the aim to train their skills in dealing with a number of issues related to students and their behavior. 

Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Mohammed Al Shammari, vice chairman of the committee, said that the group awareness programmes, which will be implemented at the beginning of the new school year, will focus on a number of issues, including Internet and sexual harassment.

In addition, measures will be taken to provide protection for children who were in traffic accidents.

In addition, Al Shammari stressed on the importance of co-ordination among school districts in the country in order to publicize the activities and objectives of the Higher Committee with regards to child protection.

The attendees also discussed a set of proposals to be implemented for the protection of future generations.

Moreover, they discussed a comprehensive plan, focusing on the quality of lectures to be held in schools, as well as ways to enhance communication with government departments and private sector institutions.

Al Shammari emphasized on the need to intensify the efforts in implementing the various activities and programmes in collaboration with concerned authorities in order to be able to effectively guarantee the protection of children.
