Under the guidance of HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the Ministry of the Interior honored an outstanding employee of Sharjah International Airport Passports Section. The honoring is in recognition of the employee’s role in uncovering an Iris Recognition fraud, pertaining to an Asian passenger’s entry permit, who tried to enter the country through the airport.

Major General, Nasser bin Al Awadi Al Menhali, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Naturalization Residency and Ports Affairs, met the employee Saif Khalfan Saif in his office. He commended his efforts that reflect a high sense of responsibility and devotion to duty, and conveyed the greetings of H.H the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. Moreover, he handed him a certificate of appreciation, a symbolic gift and a sum of money; in recognition of his patriotic work.

Furthermore, Al Menhali said that the Directorate General of Naturalization Residency and Ports Affairs’ national staff, who have studied at the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s school, have always been keen to serve the country as part of their lives, and to give priority to duty. This makes them a role model for others.

He explained that this honoring highlights the keenness of the Ministry of Interior to encourage positive values, and promote the sense of security among its personnel. Moreover, it reflects the higher leadership’s directives to honor competencies, which provide a role model to be emulated, with respect to the noble values and honesty at work, to enhance national security and community safety.

Al Menhali expressed his appreciation for the efforts of employee Saif Khalfan Saif. He added that promoting awareness and the sense of security among citizens and residents is a national, moral and humanitarian duty.

Notably, the employee, suspecting foul play on the part of the passenger who presented an entry permit, carried out a thorough investigation. Further inspections revealed restrictions imposed on the passenger; and following the Iris Recognition scan, it turned out that his name and passport were forged. The case was referred to the competent authorities to undertake the necessary action.
